Jeremy Sidell joined the PATH Family of Agencies in July, 2009 as the Chief Development Officer. Jeremy oversees Development and Communications for all of the PATH agencies. Jeremy has 13 years of fundraising and program development experience for diverse organizations, including Cure Autism Now, the United Way of Greater Los Angeles, and the Los Angeles Times. He has organized nationwide endurance events, developed the HomeWalk in Los Angeles, and oversaw the grant-making activities of the Los Angeles Times. Through his work, he has raised more than $50 million supporting organizations working to address AIDS, breast cancer, autism, early childhood literacy, homelessness, and poverty. Jeremy earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Portland. In his free time, Jeremy coaches youth soccer and enjoys spending time with his family and dogs in the great outdoors.

Feb 24th-Speaker- Barbara Bry- Blackbird Ventures- San Diego: A Good Place for Your Start-up to End Up?

Barbara Bry-IMG_9298-4x5_April 2013Barbara Bry has been a successful entrepreneur in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors. Currently, she is the chief operating officer of Blackbird Ventures that invests in and incubates early stage tech companies, and she and her husband Neil Senturia write a weekly column on innovation and entrepreneurship for U-T San Diego. In 2014, they were recognized by the SBA as “Small Business Journalists of the Year” for San Diego and Imperial Counties. Last year, Barbara was appointed by Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker to the National Advisory Council on Innovation and Entrepreneurship. She is the first San Diegan to be selected. In 2014, Assembly Speaker Toni Atkins picked Barbara as her “Woman of the Year” for the 78th Assembly District. “Barbara Bry has broken the glass ceiling in business and technology, paving the way for women in fields that have not traditionally been the province of women,” says Atkins.  “Her tireless dedication to opening doors for others, while achieving success in her own right, makes her a role model for us all, whether female or male.” Barbara was on the founding team of ProFlowers.com that started in 1998 in a small office in La Jolla. She is the founder of San Diego Athena, which has become the leading organization for women in the San Diego tech and life science community.

Feb. 3rd- Speaker – Tom Karlo- KPBS General Manager – KPBS: Where News Matters

Tom_Karlo_KPBSTom Karlo has been KPBS’ general manager since February 2009, but his career at KPBS began in 1973 as a part time assistant while attending San Diego State University. Tom is the 5th general manager in KPBS’ history. Prior to becoming general manager, he served as associate general manager for more than a decade.

Tom’s vision for KPBS is to be the most trusted source of news in San Diego. Under his leadership, the station created KPBS Evening Edition, shifted KPBS’ online content to focus on news, and expanded the radio schedule to feature news and information 24 hours a day. Tom’s vision for KPBS is another step closer to reality: 2013 Arbitron data ranks KPBS Radio as the number one station in morning drive.

Tom is very community driven in his role as general manager. He spends much of his time representing KPBS in the community and deepening relationships with new and current donors and corporate partners.

For the past 35 years, Tom has spent many of his fall weekends as a cameraman for NFL Films. He has filmed 13 Super Bowls and received a National Emmy for Sports Cinematography.

Tom has lived in San Diego for more than 40 years. He and his wife Julie have been married for 39 years. They have 3 grown children and 4 grandchildren.

Feb 10th, 2015 Speaker – Rob Pace: “Travel the High Road of Feedback”

Rob Pace is a thought leader on business strategy, culture and innovation. Rob founded Goodsnitch, a feedback and recognition company, in 2012 with the mission of using technology for good. The Goodsnitch mobile app was released in August 2013 and has revealed extremely positive trends using its fast feedback method. In 2014 Goodsnitch received the San Diego Chamber of Commerce “Most Innovative Product/Service” award.

 

Previously, Rob held a number of senior leadership positions at Goldman, Sachs & Co. during his over twenty-year career. At Goldman, Rob headed the Americas Financing Group. In that capacity, he coordinated the Firm’s multi-billion dollar financing and risk management businesses. Principal product groups in the Americans Financing Group include equity capital markets, leverage finance, debt capital markets, structured finance, swaps marketing, quantitative strategies, and new products.  Rob was also the Partner in charge of the San Francisco office and co-head of West Coast Investment Banking for many years.

 

At Goldman, Rob was a member of the Investment Banking Operating, Business practices, Compensation, and Career Development Committees and the Firmwide Capital Committee. Rob was the creator of the highly publicized GSTrUE Private Equity Platform and also co-created the Timber REIT product, now widely utilized throughout the Paper and Forest products industry. GSTrUE received IFR’s prestigious “Global Innovation of the Year” award. Rob is the past recipient of both the Deal of the Year and Most Innovative Transaction awards at Goldman Sachs.

 

Rob served as Chairman of the National Advisory Board of the Salvation Army and is actively involved in numerous other charitable and civic organizations. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Robert Half International.

 

Rob is a graduate of Oregon State University and the Harvard Business School. He and his wife, Jennifer, have three children and reside in the San Diego area.
